One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "FORT EDWARD / POTTERY CO," George Satterlee, Fort Edward, NY, circa 1859, semi-ovoid jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a long-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt accent to maker's mark. A 1 3/4" hairline descending from spout to shoulder. A small spout chip and tiny spout nick. Some wear to cobalt. Minor in-the-firing flaws to surface. Some staining. Minor surface wear to reverse. H 11 1/2".
