Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock with Lid, Stamped "R.C.R / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with two groups of swags. Wavy cobalt line decoration below handles. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed under one handle with "R.C.R. / PHILA." maker's mark. Includes original swag-decorated lid. Crock with rim chips, one restored handle, other significant restoration, and a vertical hairline ascending from base. Lid with restoration. Dimensions (including lid): 8 3/8" x 6".
