Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, ovoid jar with footed base, tall collar, and extruded lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with two daisy motifs between wavy freehand stripes. Wavy cobalt line below each handle and highlights accenting the handle terminals. A 6 1/2" restored crack from rim. A 5 1/2" hairline to underside. Small rim chips. Some water glass and other staining to surface. One handle with a large in-the-firing iron ping and a minor post-firing chip. Other handle with a minor in-the-firing ping. H 13 1/2".
