Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Lanier Meaders / 1988," Cleveland, GA origin, 1988, ovoid jug with flared spout, decorated with a hand-modeled and applied clay face with refined sculpting, featuring a kaolin eyes with cobalt pupils and incised lashes, eyebrows, ears, pointed nose, mouth with one row of kaolin teeth, and prominent chin. Surface covered in a streaky olive-green alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature and 1988 date. Provenance: Carl and Marian Mullis Collection; Ex-William House. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 11".
