Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & CO.BINGHAMTON," NY State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a vine with scrolled stems. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Essentially as-made condition. A shallow 1 1/2" in-the-firing flake (contact mark) to base. A few minor in-the-firing flaws, including a short in-the-firing Y-shaped line to base, which is partially glazed over. Minor staining. H 14 3/8".
