Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate "Starflower" Decoration, Stamped 'T. HARRINGTON / LYONS," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with flared collar and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of an eight-petaled daisy with spotted, bulls-eye center, surrounded eight large diagonal rays. Slip-trailed "3" above. Slip-trailed highlights to maker's mark. Among the finer-decorated examples of Thompson Harrington stoneware that we have offered, featuring a rare variant of the potter's iconic "starface" motif. A 7" crack on underside forming an approximately 9 1/4" Y tall Y on front of jar. Rim chips. H 13".
