Large-Sized Stoneware Canning Jar with Sponged Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and narrow mouth, the shoulder decorated with heavy cobalt sponging over a slip-coated ground. A 1 3/4" hairline extending 2" onto underside. In-the-making contact marks to surface. H 9 1/2".
