Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Chicken Waterer, Stamped "THOS. HAIG / 975 N. 2ND ST. / PHILA," Thomas Haig, Jr., Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, dome-shaped form with pointed finial, arched tab handles, and applied water trough with carved opening; brush-decorated over a Bristol slip ground with a tulip on the reverse and small floral devices to the edge of the trough and base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a curving line of cobalt below each handle. Reverse impressed with the cobalt-highlighted maker's mark of Thomas Haig, Jr. Albany-slip-glazed interior. A chip to one handle. Two chips to opposite handle. A 7/8" chip to upper edge of opening. Other minor chips to edge of opening. A faint 7/8" line descending from bottom edge of opening. H 8".
