Scarce Small-Sized Stoneware Jar with Impressed Floral Decoration, Stamped "PICKLES," attributed to Clarkson Crolius, Sr., Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, featuring the impressed and cobalt-highlighted word, "PICKLES," surrounded by a rectangular cobalt border. Reverse with impressed and cobalt-highlighted flower blossom surrounded by an unusual brushed-cobalt flower blossom border. A 1" rim chip and 5/8" rim chip. Some old grease staining to surface. What appears to be a horizontal crack at shoulder is actually only in-use residue. Some flaking to Albany slip on interior. H 8".
