One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / MANUFACTURER / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK," circa 1815, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and open loop handles, featuring wreath-like brushwork around the maker's mark and a stylized drape-and-tassel motif on the reverse. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Provenance: Previously descended in the Onderdonk Family of Rockland County, NY. Small, shallow chips and wear to exterior of rim. Two chips to interior of rim. Typical small in-the-firing surface flaws, including a glazed-over ping under one handle. H 9".
