One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON, / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 3 1/2" crack on underside, extending onto base where it extends several more inches horizontally. This crack includes a 5/8" flake on underside. Minor staining. H 11 1/4".
