Scarce Small-Sized Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral and Berry Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX," Harrisburg, PA, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with short collar and semi-squared rim, brush-decorated with a plant bearing a central daisy flanked by stems with berries and graduated leaves. Handle decorated with cobalt stripes, a treatment rarely seen in Harrisburg stoneware. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Spout and rim chips. A thin 2 1/2" crack to left of spout and a thin 1 3/4" crack to right of spout. A minor base chip. H 8 1/2".
