Two Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Bird Decorations, North American, second half 19th century, a four-gallon crock with slip-trailed crossed bird decoration, stamped "S. HART / FULTON," NY State origin, paired with a three-gallon crock with slip-trailed bird-on-vine motif, attributed to Flack and Van Arsdale, Ontario, Canada. Hart crock with in-the-firing spalling to cobalt slip and a large area of restoration to left side of crock's front, extending below design. Other crock with crack from rim on front, an X-shaped line on underside continuing onto base on crock's left side, some exfoliation to reverse, traces of green paint, small chips to one handle, a glazed-over Y-shaped line to interior (not visible on exterior), and an in-the-firing glaze drip/clay residue to underside.
