Rare Anna Pottery Stoneware Advertising Pig Bottle, Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, circa 1880, molded bottle in the form of a pig with opening at rear and incised details to face and hooves. Incised across one side "From / John Gaubatz / No 115 Christy Ave / St. Louis Mo." Bottle is further incised with a detailed map of the Midwest including the following landmarks: "St. Louis the future Capital in / Miss River / Grand Tower / C. & St. L. R.R. / O. & M. R.R. / i.C. R.R. / Cairo / Mounds / Carbondale / C. & V. R.R. / Vincens / Chicago the Corn City / Cincinnati the Pork City / and Anna Jug City." Surface covered in a glossy Albany slip glaze. A fine example of this highly prized ceramic folk art form. Excellent condition with two smals chips to one leg and two very minor nicks to mouth of bottle. Length 7 1/2".
