Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Palatine, WV origin, circa 1875, both of semi-ovoid form, one stenciled "J.M. HARDEN & CO. / PALATINE.W.VA," the other decorated with four freehand stripes, unmarked. Harden jar with surface wear and in-the-firing chipping to bottom edge. Stripe-decorated jar in excellent condition. H (of stripe-decorated jar) 10 3/8".
