Five-Gallon Cobalt-Banded Stoneware Churn, Stamped "WHITES.UTICA.NY," circa 1865, ovoid churn with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with throughout with incised and cobalt-highlighted banding. Includes wooden lid. An approximately 4 1/2" x 1" filled and colored section to side of rim, not visible on interior. A 1 1/4" filled and colored rim chip on front. Both filled and colored areas include poor coloring. A chip and a few nicks to inner rim for lid. A 1 1/4' flake to one handle. A small chip and minor nick to opposite handle. A minor in-the-firing base chip. H 17 1/2".
