Scarce Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Tobacco Jar with Stenciled Eagle Motif, Stenciled "STAR POTTERY," Hamilton & Jones, Greensboro, PA, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a large stenciled design of a spread-winged eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons, and carrying a banner, inscribed "STAR POTTERY," in its beak. Desirable form, size, and decoration. Some wear to cobalt. Light surface wear to reverse. H 9".
