Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Churn with Stenciled Floral Motifs, Palatine, WV origin, circa 1875, cylindrical churn with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a stenciled "3" surrounded by geometric stenciling, flanked by stenciled stems bearing roses, berries, and hanging blossoms. Note the small star at the center of the upper rose blossom. Includes salt-glazed stoneware lid, possibly original to the churn. Churn with a small chip to interior of rim, two chips to inner rim for lid, and some light surface wear. Heavy chipping to lid. H (including lid) 15".
