Glazed Redware Jar, Stamped "S. BELL & SON. / STRASBURG," VA origin, circa 1890, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and squared rim, the lead-glazed surface featuring an unusual treatment of only splashed manganese over a mottled green-and-orange ground. A spider crack emanating from the underside several inches up body of jar. A very faint 1 1/4" surface line to shoulder. A minor 1 1/4" line to interior of rim, visible as a a 1 1/8" line on exterior of rim. A few minor rim nicks. Light surface wear. H 8 5/8".
