Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Stem Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tall, semi-squared spout, decorated with a brushed design of a spotted bird perched on a scrolled, flowering stem, also accented with spots. Brushed "2" below. A small spout chip. A 2 1/4" vertical hairline at base. A 1 1/4" vertical hairline at base. Some in-the-firing surface crazing near base on reverse. A 2" hairline from spout. A 1/2" hairline from spout. An in-the-firing discolored area to left of "2." A small amount of yellow house paint to left side of jug. H 14".
