Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N.A. WHITE & SON. / UTICA. N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a very large brushed and slip-trailed design of a flowering plant, accented with stripes and spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some spots of wear to cobalt. A long, tight crack on underside, extending 12 1/2" up reverse. Rim chips. One handle with a shallow 1/2" chip and minor wear. Other handle with a tiny surface flake. Staining to reverse. H 13 1/2".
