Fine Small-Sized Redware Loaf Dish with Marbled Slip Decoration, PA origin, possibly Philadelphia, 18th or early 19th century, oval dish with coggled edge, the lead-glazed interior profusely-decorated with joggled yellow slip accented with manganese spotting and flecks of copper. Excellent size and decoration. Literature: See Myers, Handcraft to Industry, pg. 5, fig. a, for a joggled-slip dish excavated at Franklin Court in Philadelphia in a 1730-1760 context. A shallow 1 3/4" flake to rim. Other small rim chips. A small unglazed area to interior base. A few small flakes to interior wall of dish. L 12".
