One-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK JR ATHENS, N.Y," circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared collar, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a flower with spotted details to the blossom and leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Includes salt-glazed lid, possibly original to the jar. Jar with a large rim chip on reverse, staining, minor wear to cobalt, two short Y-shaped lines to reverse, and wear to inner rim for lid. Lid with a small chip to knob and a small chip to edge. H (excluding lid) 9 1/4".
