Fine Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "S.T. BREWER. / HAVANA.," NY State origin, circa 1853-1859, large-sized, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with a horizontal stem bearing tulips and bull's-eye-shaped blossoms, accented with spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A faint 3" X-shaped surface line to reverse, not visible on interior. Exfoliation to underside. Some staining/residue to surface. A small in-the-firing iron ping near base of design on front. H 13 7/8".
