Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S UTICA," NY State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird with turned head, perched on a flowering stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Large area of restoration on one side. Long unrestored crack on underside. Salt drips. An in-the-firing contact mark to front and shoulder. in-the-firing contact marks involving small pieces of adhered clay. H 14".
