Pair of Five-Gallon Stoneware Jars with Stenciled Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG," PA origin, circa 1880, both of ovoid form, decorated with matching abstract stenciled designs. Taller with brown glaze drips to bottom half of jar, a 2 1/2" Y-shaped surface line to shoulder, gray paint flecks and residue to reverse, and two tiny rim nicks. Shorter with two rim chips, measuring 1 3/8" and 1 1/4", and a tiny iron pings to right of decoration. H (of taller) 14 1/4".
