Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Spittoon, Northeastern U.S. origin, mid 19th century, cylindrical form with footed base, rounded sides, recessed circular opening in top, and carved oval opening at shoulder; brush-decorated around the body with alternating swags and pound signs. Front impressed with cobalt-highlighted number "3." Albany slip to interior. Excellent condition. H 3 1/4" ; Diam 7 5/8".
