Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "H.C. SMITH / ALEXA. / D.C," circa 1835, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and arched tab handles, brush-decorated with a tulip motif based on the work of David Parr, Sr. of Baltimore. Four foliate devices decorate the shoulder on reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Losses to one handle. Lines to shoulder area on front. A shallow 1 1/4" base chip. Other minor base chips. H 13 1/2".
