Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Handled Canning Jar, New England origin, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jar with narrow, flaring mouth, and applied handle on reverse, the shoulder decorated with a slip-trailed stem bearing scrolled leaves and berries. The form of this jar, including its handle, is consistent with New England stoneware oyster jars of the period. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a minor, in-the-firing base chip on front. H 10 3/8".
