Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Double Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. NORTON & CO. / BENNINGTON VT:," circa 1860, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed birds perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with light overall staining, a salt drip on underside, a tiny nick to spout, and a tiny in-the-firing ping on left side of jug's front. H 15 3/4".
