Four-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird-on-Branch Decoration, Stamped "SEYMOUR & BOSWORTH / HARTFORD, CONN," circa 1871-1890, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a folky cobalt design of a large bird perched on a flowering branch. Appealing primitive style and size to design. Some light exfoliation to underside at edge. A 4 3/4" L-shaped crack descending from rim on left side of crock. Very minor exfoliation to left side of crock. Some minor exfoliation below rim on front. Some fry to cobalt. H 11 3/8".
