One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON, / BENNINGTON VT.," circa 1855, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-squared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a detailed, daisy-shaped blossom emanating from a scrolled stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition with a chip to one handle, a tiny surface nick to right of decoration, and another tiny nick to interior of rim. H 10 1/4".
