Glazed Redware Jar with Elaborate Manganese Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, possibly Circleville, NY area, first half 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base and semi-rounded rim, the lead-glazed surface lavishly-decorated with stylized manganese-slip brushwork in the form of flowers, a stalk-like plant, and reverse-C-shaped strokes. A 1 3/4" rim chip, painted gray. Minor rim wear and minor surface wear. Shallow chipping to foot. Underside with old gray paint. H 8".
