One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON. / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with slip-trailed design of a large flower with graduated stamens and scrolled stem. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A chip to interior of spout. Tiny nicks to top of spout. An in-the-firing iron ping at base on reverse. Two base chips. A tiny surface flake to cobalt stem. H 11 1/2".
