Scarce One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Ochre-Slip Flourish, Stamped "L. NORTON & SON," Bennington, VT origin, circa 1833-1838, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed design of a looping flourish with diamond-shaped center, accented with spots. A tight 7 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack on right side of jug. A 5/8" surface flake to reverse. Minor staining. H 11 1/2".
