Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JULIUS NORTON / BENNINGTON. VT," circa 1840, highly-ovoid jug with short, tapered spout, decorated with a brushed design of a drooping flower and bud emanating from a leafy stem. A shallow in-the-firing flake (contact mark) to top of spout. A tiny in-the-firing iron ping at base on reverse. A small in-the-firing cross-shaped line at base of handle. H 14".
