Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS.," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with flared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a branch. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. This jug features a bird commonly found on Julius and Edward Norton, Bennington, Vermont stoneware instead of Frank Norton's usual parrot motif. Two spout chips. Some staining. H 13 1/4".
