Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Parrot Decoration, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS," circa 1870, large-sized, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a bold slip-trailed design of a crested parrot perched on crossed leaves. Cobalt accents to the maker's mark and capacity mark. Strong decoration and impressive size. Some minor bubbling to cobalt. Scattered light exfoliation to reverse, becoming fainter on sides of crock. An in-the-firing iron ping near base on reverse. H 12 3/4".
