One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. NORTON & CO / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a boldly slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Excellent condition with a minor spout nick, a small in-the-firing chip to top of handle, and minor staining. H 12".
