Rare One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stamped "J. MILLER / WHEELING, VA," circa 1830, ovoid jar with flattened rim, arched tab handles, and salt-glazed surface, impressed with rare "J. MILLER / WHEELING. Va." maker's mark on front and capacity mark on reverse. Possible iron-oxide wash to upper body. Underside is slightly bowed, keeping the jar from sitting perfectly flat. A chip to one handle. Larger chips to opposite handle. A large Y-shaped hairline to underside, extending a short distance onto base in two places. H 11".
