Two Pieces of Whites Utica Stoneware with Cobalt Fantail Bird Decoration, NY State origin, circa 1870, a one-gallon cylindrical jug, stamped "WHITES.UTICA.," and a four-gallon cylindrical crock, stamped "WHITES UTICA NY," with related slip-trailed bird-on-branch motifs. Jug with staining and light scattered exfoliation. Crock with a top-to-bottom colored crack from rim on reverse, extending onto underside, heavy chipping to one handle, a large glazed-over handle chip with short line extending through it, and exfoliation to reverse and underside. H (of jug) 11 3/8".
