Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Pheasant Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S.UTICA.," circa 1870, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested pheasant with turned head, perched on a tree stump. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Large network of lines ascending from base on left side of jug. A short line from spout on jug's left side. Small traces of old red paint to surface. A tiny in-the-firing ping to jug's left side. H 14 1/4".
