Extremely Rare Stoneware Pitcher with Incised Inscription, "Eat Drink .& Be Merry," Stamped "S. STRADLEY / LOGAN, O.," Hocking County, OH origin, fourth quarter 19th century, ovoid pitcher with flared collar, the surface dipped in Albany slip and incised with the script inscription, "Eat Drink .& Be Merry." Front impressed with large "S. STRADLEY / LOGAN, O." maker's mark, accented with stars. Desirable form and inscription by a rare Ohio maker. The first piece bearing this maker's mark that we have offered. A large restored section to collar above handle on reverse. Otherwise excellent condition. H 12 3/4".
