Very Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "BELL," Samuel, Solomon, or Peter Bell, Winchester, VA, circa 1835, ovoid jar with flared collar and applied handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a curving vine bearing three open-centered flower blossoms. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed under one handle with the small-font maker's mark, "BELL," a rarely-seen variant of the Bells' well-known, large-sized "BELL" stamp. Rim chips. Two small chips to shoulder molding. Chipping along edge of one handle. A small chip to opposite handle. H 9 5/8".
