One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "B.C. MILBURN," Alexandria, VA origin, circa 1855, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, arched tab handles, and semi-squared rim, decorated with a large brushed design of a flowering plant including tulips flanking the blossom. Reverse with three hanging floral motifs. A 3/4" chip and minor nick to one handle. Opposite handle with a chipped area to one end and a small chip to opposite end. An in-the-firing surface chip near base on front. A few very minor base nicks. H 10 3/4".
