Flint Enamel Figure of a Lion on Base, Stamped "Lyman Fenton & Co. / Fenton's / ENAMEL, / PATENTED / 1849. / BENNINGTON, VT", circa 1849-1852, molded figure of a standing lion on base with heavy coleslaw mane, upswept tail, open mouth with protruding tongue, and front paw resting on a ball. Glazed surface decorated in amber and brown over a cream ground. Underside impressed with circular Lyman Fenton & Co. maker's mark. Excellent condition with minor damage to coleslaw, some minor staining to underside, a glaze burst to underside of tail, and typical kiln furniture marks to underside. L 11 1/8" ; H 9 1/2".
