Two-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "FULPER BROS., / FLEMINGTON, N.J.," circa 1890, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Very nice condition. A short hairline on underside, forming a faint 5 1/2" long T on reverse, the horizontal part of the T not visible on interior. Some minor in-the-firing wrinkles in the clay on reverse, not visible on interior. A tiny in-the-firing chip near base on reverse. An in-the-firing iron ping to rim on front. A tiny rim nick on reverse. H 7 1/2" ; Diam. 10 7/8".
