Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "D.W. GRAVES / WESTMORELAND," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with flared spout, heavily-decorated with abstract cobalt brushwork. Brushed cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 9 3/4" vertical line to right of decoration, a 6 3/4" vertical line to left of decoration. A faint 3" L-shaped line to left side of jug. Additional short, faint lines to base of jug. A minor glazed-over spout chip. An in-the-firing contact mark to left side of jug. H 13 3/4".
