Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed daisy atop a leafy garland. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Provenance: From a recently-surfaced PA collection, purchased by the consignor between 1963 and 1975. Excellent condition with two in-the-firing contact marks near base, an in-the-firing kiln scar (chip) to underside, and a tiny nick to base of handle. H 13 1/4".
