Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "EVAN R. JONES / PITTSTON. PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with a leafy stem bearing a hanging blossom composed of graduated spots. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A minor chip to one handle. A minor chip to interior of rim. A 1 3/4" hairline from rim on side of jar. A faint 5 1/2" spider line to surface on right side of jar's front, not visible on interior. Some staining to front. A minor, 3/4" in-the-firing surface line at base on front, not visible on interior. H 12 5/8".
